Unpacking Your Mountain of Value: Seeing How Far You've Come

You've been climbing for years - maybe it's time you stopped and see how far you've come.
You've been climbing for years - maybe it's time you stopped and see how far you've come.

Have you ever felt like you’re constantly climbing, chasing the next goal, yet never stopping to appreciate how far you’ve come? So many of us do. We focus on where we should be instead of celebrating where we are.

But why? Your mountain, your journey, is built from your struggles, triumphs, and growth. You didn’t just land here; you climbed. Yet, we compare ourselves to others, forgetting that they, too, had years of struggle before success. We forget to pause, breathe, and acknowledge our own strength.

My Journey: Where It Began

Many years ago, my climb began with the self-help book The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck, given to me by a caring friend. That book changed everything, igniting my self-growth journey and teaching me how to begin becoming my own person. But it didn’t stop there, many more books followed, each one shaping my perspective and guiding me through different seasons of life. Alongside these lessons, faith and therapy became powerful tools, helping me process life’s pains. Step by step, I fought against doubt, fear, and uncertainty, leaning on my faith, resilience, and self-discovery as my guide. Every book, every challenge, and every breakthrough became a stepping stone on my mountain.

The Hardest Climbs

Moving countries, facing rejection, losing my parents, it all tested my faith. At times, grief made me want to stop climbing altogether. But I reminded myself: God didn’t bring me this far to leave me here.

Are You Seeing Your Own Mountain?

  • Where did your climb begin?

  • Have you ever paused to see how far you’ve come?

  • What struggles shaped you, and what victories deserve celebrating?

At 54, I am finally taking in my mountain, the family I’ve built, the resilience I’ve gained.

And you? You have a mountain worth recognising too.
